Eating Disorders, Disordered Eating, & Body dysmorphia
Let's get to the core of the matter, so you can have peace from your life consuming thoughts and behaviors
Eating disorders, (including anorexia nervosa, Other Specified Feeding or Eating Disorder (OSFED), Avoidant/Restrictive Food Intake Disorder (ARFID), and Binge Eating Disorder), disordered eating, and body dysmorphia are much more than the behaviors we engage in, often driven and/or maintained by perfectionism, unresolved past trauma, severe anxiety and/or panic attacks, feelings of hopelessness, lack of connectivity and isolation from others, and struggles with addiction. All of these can take control of one's life and cause significant impairment in daily functioning and at times be life threatening. While it may seem insurmountable, with the right treatment that focuses on the whole individual, recovery is achievable. Perhaps you have tried treatment in the past, but if your providers only focused on surface level treatment and the symptoms of the eating disorder, it is possible, you didn't get the help that you really needed. I am here for you to help, listen, and guide you towards recovery. You are not alone!

I already have a therapist, How Can Working with a Psychiatrist Help eating disorder treatment?
A psychiatrist can plan an integral role on one's treatment team. Many individuals suffering from eating disorders have co-occuring anxiety, depression, OCD, PTSD and other mental health conditions and may benefit from use of psychotropic medications. As a psychiatrist, I will work with you to find the right medication to help you on your journey towards recovery. I also understand the importance of collaboration with your other outpatient providers and/or treatment facility providers. I believe having providers that have a solid understanding of eating disorders and expertise can further aide one's treatment. As an eating disorder psychiatrist, I understand the toll eating disorders can take on one's life and the value of working with a treatment team.
